With over a thousand CDs and a far more varied taste than most
people would credit me for, I find it difficult to start. Here are
some examples of the music I enjoy
Mahler |
The Symphonies and Lieder. All of Mahler’s symphonies
have been so deeply influential to me that I find it difficult
to write in brief on this subject. Try the first movement of
the third and ninth symphonies, the fourth movement of the fourth
or “Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen” for a start.
In live performance, I have been most deeply moved by performances
conducted by Ricardo Chailly with the Concertgebouw Orchestra. |
